Dynamic Camera System

This dynamic camera system is the result of a research project that was carried out during my Masters at Abertay University. The idea behind the project was to create a camera that the player didn’t need to control, it would search the scene to find all the important objects and then position the camera in a way that fit these key objects in the frame. This autonomy would allow the player to concentrate on gameplay and not on controlling the camera.

The system uses “gameplay volumes” that are placed within the scene which the camera can identify. The gameplay volumes store information about how the camera should deal with them.

The video shows how the gameplay volumes behave in the context of a simple game.
